Ksar Ait Ben Haddou

Anyone who has strolled through the alleys of this remarkably well-preserved Kasbah will understand why movies are so popular here.

One immediately feels transported back to a medieval environment, as if by time machine.

In the late 1970s, this ancient Kasbah was largely restored for the film Jesus of Nazareth. From 2000 to 2015, further renovations were carried out so that films such as Gladiator, Game of Thrones, Asterix and Obelix, Aladdin, Prince of Persia, The Mummy, The Hills have Eyes II, Babel, Alexander and Laurence of Arabia could also be filmed here.

When you walk through the well-preserved walls, however, there is nothing left to discover of all the film sets. But the view from the highest point of this ancient city is absolutely breathtaking.
